Landscaping Standards
As a homeowner it is your duty to maintain your lot in acceptable condition. In order to determine whether your lot is being properly maintained, you should ask yourself the following questions:
  1. Is the grass being cut on a regular basis (at least once every 6 - 10 days) during the growing season)?
  2. Does my mulching material appear fresh?
  3. Is my yard free of dead trees, shrubs, or stumps?
  4. Is my edging crisp? Are my beds weed free?
  5. When I cut my grass, am I collecting the clippings and blowing off my drive?
  6. Am I cleaning up the curb area in front of my yard?
  7. Is my grass free of bare spots? Have I made an effort at seeding dead spots during the last seed season?
  8. Am I watering (of course according to Newton County’s guidelines) any dry patches in my yard?
  9. Are my shrubs neatly pruned?
  10. Is my yard art tasteful? If I saw it in another neighbor’s yard, would I think it looked nice?
  11. Am I proud of my yard's appearance?

If you answered "NO" to any of these questions, chances are you are not maintaining your lot in an acceptable manner.
